FALL CONFERENCE SESSION DETAILS

Keynote Presentation: The Role of Technology in the Examination, Treatment Planning, and Presentation of Care– 1 CE credit
Presented by: Frank Spear DDS, MSD

Thursday, November 4, 2010: 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm CST

The role of technology in the delivery of care has grown at an incredible rate in the profession of dentistry. Things such as digital radiography, chairside cad-cam, and guided implant surgery using cone beam technology to produce the surgical guides and restorations before the implants are even placed are just a few examples. But for the advancements in technology to be applied the patient has to desire the care, and the dentist has to present it. In these areas many dentists truly miss the boat in terms of what is possible. This presentation will look at three areas where simple, affordable technology can play a huge role in enhancing your practice enjoyment, confidence, and profitability. Using the simple tools of digital photography, and 6 key photographs, in combination with a systematic approach to treatment planning and readily available presentation software you will see how easy it is to inform patients of their existing dental conditions in a completely non-threatening way, while showing them the opportunities for what is possible. This is not difficult to learn technology, and much of it can be delegated in to team members enhancing their enjoyment and participation in the process as well.

Taking Mini-Implants to a New Dimension– 1 CE credit
Presented by: Gerald Niznick, DMD, MSD
Implant Direct offers five application-specific, small diameter implants ranging from 3.0mmD - 3.3mmD. This webinar explores the evolution of implant design and the recent developments that have expanded the treatment options available in this field. Considerations for implant selection, overdenture treatment planning, site preparation and implant restoration will be discussed in detail.

Ultrasonic Irrigation:  Overcoming Cleaning Complexities - 1 CE Credit
Presented by:  John Nusstein, DDS
The intricate nature of canals and isthmuses presents challenges in cleaning and shaping root canals. New technological advances allow us to see and recognize these challenges. It is incumbent upon clinicians to ensure that they use every measure available to prepare canals thoroughly. Pulling from his 5 years of clinical studies on irrigation, Dr. Nusstein presents techniques and studies that responsibly tackle this issue for better endodontic outcomes.  In vivo research supports the use of continuous ultrasonic irrigation, arriving at conclusions about the amount of tissue, biofilm and bacteria removed as well as the safety of the technique.
